"The CD cover shows a generously smiling face surrounded by wavy brunette hair and crinkley eyes that certainly reflect that smile.  Have no doubt; this is a woman who loves a good laugh.

"But Connolly’s first CD, No Turning Back, is no laughing matter.  There is some serious rockin’ going on here and beyond that, the CD probes some other depths of her remarkably developed vocal chops.

"Born To Be Blue / Pink Cadillac, cut three on the CD, shows Connolly’s range to the max.  Beginning with keyboardist Matt Croasmun’s mellow bluesy intro, Connolly just nails the laid back plaintive melody with an expressiveness that brings torch singing into the twenty first century.  And then her acoustic rhythm guitar segues into some real down to earth R & B leading to Pink Cadillac as though those two songs were born to be joined.

"But this vocal versatility should come as no surprise because what you have here is an ex Air Force Brat raised in an atmosphere of Southern gentility with an opera buff for a dad.  To that add some serious classical voice training with virtually no exposure to black music.  Then place her at age 23 an intimate and soul altering Bonnie Raitt concert that turned her into a rockin’ blues mama better known as The Tune Chic!

"No Turning Back is peppered with blues and jazz tinged rock songs emphasizing each song’s content and message; every word stands out and salutes the listener.  The traditional Wayfaring Stranger and the Jeremy Deibler penned One of These Days bring Connolly’s spiritual roots to the fore and the final cut, Georgia, exquisitely rendered, brings it quite literally back home, for that is Connolly’s home state.  You can bring the girl out of the southland, but thank God, you can’t bring the southland out of the girl."

"Sandy Connolly, also known as The Tune Chic, has arrived on the New Haven blues scene with music that makes you want to get down, put on your Ray Bans, and channel the Blues Brothers. She sings songs that remind you why you married your honey, dumped ‘em, and took ‘em back again. She’ll take you back to the days with the top down (mostly because it was stuck down) with music that makes you dance all night.

"Her first CD No Turning Back consists of songs by everybody from Bonnie Raitt to Bruce Springsteen, the Judds, B.B. King, and Ray Charles.

"'She has a unique voice with traces of Bonnie Raitt and Sarah McLachlan around the edges,' says Jilian Grey, lead singer for Hothouse.

"Local guitar legend Johnny Memphis, formerly with the New Haven Radiators, calls her a joy to work with.

“'Not only does she have an intuitive sense of the best in American music, from gospel to blues to country to jazz, but she has the talent to sing comfortably in any genre. And sing the hell out of it as well,' says Memphis.

"'The songs on Connolly’s CD, No Turning Back, are done so well that I hardly knew they were cover songs. She picked a great selection that is not the average top forty. It’s one of the better CD’s that I have received. The genius of Jeff Cannata [at Oxford Circus Studios] brought out the best of Connolly’s abilities. I recommend that everyone go buy the CD!' says Johnny Parris of Act 1 Entertainment.

"'Sandy Connolly has put together a great bunch of songs with her first release No Turning Back.  She has an engaging voice and an interesting approach to everything she does.' Jeff Cannata, Oxford Circus Studios"
